Membership Information

Members

  • The number of members which the Association may have from time to time shall be not less than the minimum numbers provided for in the Act [which at the time of the incorporation of Association is at least seven (7)].
  • Founding members are those who have signed the Memorandum of Association and Articles.

Admittance

The subscribers to the Articles and Memorandum of Association and such other membership shall be open to any individual, family, and corporate who subscribes to the objectives of the Association. The membership fee shall be as set out in articles 6.2.1 to 6.2.8 respectively for the first year of the Association’s operation, thereafter reviewed annually at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

  • Individual annual membership: Individual annual membership shall be open to all Individual who has attained the age of 18 years and above. Each individual member shall have voting rights; one vote per individual member. The individual membership fee shall be N$500.00; subject to annual review.
  • Family annual membership: Family annual membership shall be open to any family (husband, wife, and unmarried children under 18 years of age). The family unit will have one individual vote for the husband and one vote for the wife, similar to an individual annual membership. The family membership fee shall be N$1000, 00; subject to annual review.
  • Corporate annual membership: This shall be open to a company, an organisation or an institution, etc. with interest in the activities of the Association. A maximum of four members of that company/organisation/institution will be deemed as fully-paid individual members of the Association. The corporate annual membership fee shall be N$2,000.00; subject to annual review.
  • Individual life membership: Individual life membership shall be open to Individual an on paying the membership amount at one time. No annual dues shall be required of life members. The individual life membership fee shall be N$10,000.00; subject to annual review.
  • Family life membership: Family life membership shall be open to any family (husband, wife, and unmarried children under 18 years of age) on paying the membership amount at one time. No annual dues shall be required of life members. The family unit will have one individual vote for the husband and one vote for the wife, similar to an individual annual membership. The family life membership fee shall be N$15,000.00; subject to annual review.
  • Corporate life membership: This shall be open to a company, an organisation or an institution, etc. with interest in the activities of the Association. A maximum of four (4) members of that company or organisation or institution will be deemed as fully-paid individual members of the Association. Members of this category may be changed by the respective organisation every year. The corporate life membership fee shall be N$30,000.00; subject to annual review.

Acceptance

Acceptance of membership will be done in the following manner:

  • Application for membership of the Association shall be submitted online or in writing directly to the Head Office. The decision of the Board for such requests shall be communicated to the interested party in writing or electronic communication such as e-mail within thirty (30) business days of the receipt of the application at the Head Office. In the event that an application for admission is denied, the Board is not obliged to give reasons for their decision.
  • Applications for membership shall be approved by the Board taking into account the background and credentials of the applicants specifically with reference to the mandate, purposes of the Association.

Termination

Termination of membership may occur in the following manner:

  • By declaration of a member to terminate membership which shall be in writing to the Secretary of the Association. Any declaration in this regard must be filed not less than thirty days in advance, by written communication addressed to the Board. To be listed as retired in good standing with the Association, the applicant must be in good standing until the effective date of withdrawal of membership
  • Through failure to pay the membership fees, as regulated under 6.5.2
  • Expulsion from membership of the Association may be done by the Board by 2/3rd of the votes present, if such member is found to wilfully having brought the Association into disrepute, or recidivism in defiance of the resolutions of the General Assembly or the Board, or judicial declaration of bankruptcy, or working against the mandate and/or purposes of the Association
  • Through death or dissolution and liquidation.

Membership Fees

  • Members shall pay the subscription fee as determined at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
  • All annual fees shall be due and payable to the Association within 30 (thirty) days after acceptance or renewal date of membership.
  • Payment of the annual fees will be a condition of membership and failure to pay such fees within thirty (30) days of the due date, will deprive a member of his/her right to vote at any meeting and failure to pay annual fees within ninety (90) days of the due date, will result in the member ipso facto losing its membership.

Honorary Membership

  • The High Commissioner of India to Namibia shall be the Ex-Officio Patron of the Association. Patron is exempted from the payment of membership fees.
  • The Association, at an Annual General Meeting, may bestow honorary membership to an individual or an organisation who have specially promoted India Namibia relations or those who have excelled and distinguished in their field. Such honorary members may attend any meeting of the Association, or the Board with the right to speak but without voting rights. The nomination and the election of the Patrons, Honorary members shall be voted by the Board. Honorary members are exempted from the payment of membership fees.
